Sandi Onstwedder

Sandi has been a member of the VFW Auxiliary since September 1980 when she joined under the eligibility of her brother Larry who earned the Vietnam Service Medal.

She has held numerous positions on the Auxiliary, District and Department levels. Including receiving Outstanding Department President in 2006/2007. She was appointed to be Big Ten Veterans and Family Support Chairman, and Community Service Chairman. On the National Level of the organization she presented the Past National President program at the 2008 National Convention. She was then named 2009-2010 Voice of Democracy Director and in 2012-2013, Sandi was the Americanism/Patriotic Instructor. In July 2015, Sandi was elected to the first of six chairs of the national organization. In July 2020 she became Michigan's 5th member to serve as National President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary which ends on August 3, 2021. she continued to serve on the National level of the organization on the Resolutions committee in 2021-22, and as Chairman of the Bylaws Review and Resolutions Committee for the 2022-23 Auxiliary year.

Sandi is in the third year as the Department of Michigan Secretary. She has been blessed to be actively involved with Veterans and their families for over forty years and is thankful her family always supported her volunteerism.
